Technician came to my house to repair glass covered by my insurance, then calls me and says that the chip is too large to repair (it wasn't all the way through, and smaller than a quarter). I was then told to schedule an appointment to have the glass completely replaced out of pocket. While scheduling, the first time I declined service because they tried to upsell me on windshield wipers which put me off since I'm already paying for a new windshield that I didn't even necessarily need. The second tech that came out was much more understanding and did a great job of installing the windshield, even in the freezing cold.

I’m sure the technician did all he could with the chips I had, i realize that there will still be signs of the chips after the repair , however even though it is repaired and safe , the chips are in my line of sight and extremely annoying to look through I would have rather paid for a new windshield

Thank you for contacting our office. While we do have a very high success rate with our repairs, there is no way to determine how the already damaged glass will react to the repair process. The outcome of a repair is affected by many factors, including but not limited to: - The age of the damage - The size and location of the damage on the windshield - Glass is a sensitive and unpredictable material
Our chip repairs are done to preserve the structural integrity of the glass and not for cosmetic purposes. If the repair fails i.e. starts to crack out further or is not visibly pleasing; Safelite offers a money back guarantee where we will credit the cost of the repair toward the replacement of a new windshield; however your deductible or out of pocket cost would apply.
